2009 Calendar of Events

In an effort to help those of us who schedule early, we are publishing the following list. The dates shown are the date on which we intend to hold the event, although unforeseen circumstances or popular acclaim could force a change. If you have others you would like to see or add please call the office.

Significant Events:

Advent 2009 - Midweek Services will be held at noon on Wednesday. Lunch is brown bag (if you want). Services will be a short communion and prayer service with the whole scheduled for about 45 minutes for those wishing to come over their lunch break. The service part of midday will not start until at least 12:15. The midday service will occur in Jeffersonville.

Lenten/Easter Services and Suppers –

There is a scheduled Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner, Ash Wednesday Service and Holy Week Services. Holy Week Services will include an Easter Sunrise Service. Ash Wednesday is February 25, Shrove Tuesday is February 24, Easter is April 12 and Holy Week goes from April 5 through April 10. Ash Wednesday will be at Grace as will the Shrove Tuesday Supper Weight Watchers is using the building in Jeffersonville.

Midweek Services will be held at noon on Wednesday. Lunch is Soup and Bread. Please call the office to provide soup and bread for one week. Services will be a short communion and prayer service with the whole scheduled for about 45 minutes for those wishing to come over their lunch break. The service part of midday will not start until at least 12:15. The midday service will alternate between Jeffersonville and North Branch.

Outdoor Services - This annual event was a great success and will be repeated in duplicate again this year. It is currently scheduled for August 2 at First, and September 6 at Grace. The September outdoor service will also be Rally Day.

Notes from the Pastor:

Ushers: Please show up 15 minutes before service. One usher is scheduled each week and we ask that person find someone before services to help with the collection. Please see that the candles are lit, the hymn board is current and that there is someone to toll the bell if possible.

Altar Guild: Please remember grape juice for Sunday morning. A glass carafe and cover are available in Jeffersonville. Communion for Sunday should not be laid out prior to Saturday Services to avoid the possibility of children knocking them over.

Acolytes: If you know of a child who would love to acolyte on the first Sunday of the month, please let Pastor or Rosemary know.

Confirmation: Confirmation classes are being held in Liberty every week on Tuesday at 4pm. All the current students are first year. If you know of someone who is ready Pastor would be willing to have them ride to Liberty with him to attend. If this time is not convenient and you youth is ready please contact Pastor about a different time.

First Communion: If you have or know a child ready for first communion contact the pastor who will make classes available as people are ready.
